Birmingham Moseley Player of the Season signs new contract
Adam Balding, Director of Rugby, is pleased to confirm that the 2021/22 Player of the Season Sam Pointon will again be playing for Birmingham Moseley in the coming season.
Last season Sam won the Coaches 1st XV Player of the Season award at the end of season club dinner, along with the double honour of being voted by Supporters as their Player of the Season.
In 2021/22 Sam demonstrated his durability, as well as how essential he is to the squad, by appearing in a starting shirt in every one of the teams fixtures. To add to this he again showed his outstanding rugby skills by playing in both wing positions, scrum half and fly half.
Sam first joined the club in 2017 and has made 76 appearances to date in red and black, a figure that would have been significantly higher if he had not had to fight back from a significant injury in 2019.
Last season Sam was appointed Club Captain, in recognition of how he has developed into one of the senior members of the squad bringing consistency and leadership to the team. With the unfortunate injury to 1st XV Captain Will Safe Sam took on this role as well with his usual calm, focused attitude.
We are sure he will again be one of the first names on the team sheet and will be bringing his leadership qualities into play to drive forward the new Birmingham Moseley squad.
Adam Balding said: “I am very pleased Club Captain Sam Pointon as committed to us again. Last season Sam lead the squad by example, both on and off the field, and I look forward to him utilising his many talents to be key member of the 2022/23 squad.
