Welcome back to another season!
We are at the ‘half term’ break in the pre-Christmas fixtures in National Division One and it is predictably tough, and will be tougher after this break as we play the top sides. Your support would be welcomed and much appreciated.
Remembrance Sunday – 8th November
The traditional service remembering those from the club who were lost in the two World Wars will be followed by a full English breakfast, which needs to be booked in advance [LINK: Service of Remembrance post]. Arrive by 10.45am for a 10.50am start. I look forward to seeing you there.
Monthly lunches
Our new caterers have received excellent feedback from club members, so please do join in the pre-match hospitality [LINK: pre-match lunch booking]. The lunches will be in either the Reddings Suite or the old clubhouse dining room, depending on the number of those booking. Just to emphasise, it is up to you to book, not the MPA.
Note: please check you have paid for admission in addition to the lunch. You will need a ticket or be a season ticket holder or a modern-day member. Distant life memberships do not apply.
The following dates before Christmas are the suggested MPA table dates:
- 14th November: Plymouth Albion
- 5th December: Sheffield
I am sure there will also be a fair number at the pre-Christmas game against Sale on 19th December.
Annual Reunion and AGM
This will be at the last home league game, on Saturday 10th April 2027 against London Scottish. This is being promoted as a Club History Day, so we are expecting a great day and a matching turn-out from the MPA.
300 Club
The 300 Club continues to be administered by the MPA, and the proceeds are a valuable resource in furthering the development of youth rugby at the club. If you are not already a member, please sign up on the 300 Club page – it is really very easy and a much-appreciated source of funding.
Presidents Ball
Jeremy Summers, in his final year as President, would like to gauge interest in bringing back this black-tie event. The DJ and band who performed at the 150th dinner and ball are available on 24th July. Please let me know whether this would be of interest, with tickets circa £65 per head. Surplus proceeds go to the Foundation.
New committee members
Importantly, we are looking to revitalise the MPA Committee. Whilst we have had excellent input and support from the Women’s Section and Moseley Oak, some of the old-stagers (i.e. over-seventies) are ready to pass on their experience to a younger echelon. If you have the interests of the club at heart and feel that you can contribute, then please contact me.
