Message from The Chairman

Dear Supporter

You would normally expect to hear from me at the end of the season when I would be looking back at what had been and looking forward to the coming season.

This season however as we all know is like no other. We are all now in a situation that nobody could have foreseen and we are having to come to terms with some huge changes in our way of life. Hopefully these will be short lived and everybody stays safe and well.

The season was drawing to a close when the RFU rightly cancelled all remaining matches. It has yet to be seen what effect that has on the league and we expect a decision to be forthcoming by the middle of April. Some of you will have seen Adam Balding’s YouTube video where he alluded to all the planning that was taking place behind the scenes.

You may have seen in the press that clubs at all levels have been hit hard by a loss of revenue. In our case the impact has been the loss of match day income and the revenue from a number of large events we had organised for the coming weeks.

We have wonderful facilities at the club that we are very proud of and these need maintaining. You will welcome the fact that we have offered our facilities to both Birmingham City Council and the NHS should they wish to make use of them.

In light of the current situation we are now looking at ways to raise income.

The following are just a few of the ways where we are looking for your support at this challenging time.

Season Tickets

Firstly, we are now inviting applications for season tickets for the 2020/2021 season. Although our league status has yet to be confirmed we cannot delay in raising funds.

Should our position change we will review our pricing and contact you again. Prices will remain the same. To compensate for unplayed games and as an incentive for payment by 31 May 2020, five vouchers for guests at games will be included with the season ticket if your application is received by that date. Season ticket holders will continue to receive discounted bar prices as well as 10% off all club shop purchases.

Next season, as part of the clubs initiative to control costs in these difficult times, we will be activating your 2019/20 season tickets for next seasons games. Renewing members will therefore not receive a new card for 2020/21 season. Any balances of money for bar purchases from last season will also remain on these cards.

Online Auction

We had a sellout event cancelled where Wayne Barnes was to be a guest speaker. Items that were due to be auctioned at the event will now be opened up to everybody with an online auction. If you have any memorabilia that you could donate to the club that would help us to raise money through the auction please get in touch. Please look out for further details on our website.

Club Shop Sale

We are also holding a one-off shop sale for a limited period when all our products will be sold at cost price, so please take advantage while it is available. Delivery may be affected by the current circumstances but we will of course try to get orders out as soon as possible. Details of this and how to order are on the website.

‘I built the team’

As we all try to find ways of navigating through this difficult time we are also looking for your support in raising funds to secure our existing players and bring in new ones. This is a unique opportunity to shape our future team by making a personal donation. Any contribution will be gratefully received, donations in excess of £500 will entitle the donor to two free lunches in The Reddings Suite for all home games next season. For all donations over £20.00 the donor will be given a ‘I built the team’ tee shirt. You will recall the club all came together when we responded to the very successful buy a brick campaign when we raised many thousands of pounds for the club. I hope we can get a similar response on this occasion.

These are just a few ideas and we would welcome any thoughts you may have.

We have a strong community spirit at Birmingham Moseley, the club is built on firm foundations and together we will ensure we have a bright future to look forward to.
