KEVIN “LUNK” WIRACHOWSKI
The Club has received from his wife, Lisa, the sad news this week of the passing of Kevin Wirachowski on October 5th. He was 59 years old.
Kevin, or Lunk as he was known, played a number of matches spanning two seasons for us between 2003-05, not long after the current ownership had taken the Club out of receivership to guarantee its survival as a Birmingham club. At the time we had a very young squad, and bringing in a player of his class and maturity helped to stabilise the side.
Then near the end of his rugby career Kevin had been a Canadian international prop forward, able to play on either side of the scrum, but excelling particularly on the tight head. Scrummaging was his forte but he also ran aggressively well with the ball and was a great competitor in the loose.
During his time with us he was able to build up the British side of his ScrumMaster business, in which he had developed a new scrummaging machine. For this reason, during the week he often travelled many miles, particularly to Northampton and back where he rented a workshop for his business.
On December 2nd, which would have been Lunk’s 60th birthday, there will be a Service of Celebration of his life
Moseley sends its sincerest of condolences to Lisa.
