Looseheadz is a rugby clothing brand with an overarching ambition to #TackleTheStigma around mental health. 100% of the profit from every purchase of LooseHeadz rugby clothing and apparel helps to fund our campaign to put a mental health lead in every club.
The company have recently made available several free resources on their website including online courses designed to be both a personal mental health check and help recognise potential mental health issues in other people. Our Colts’ team manager CLAIR HUGHES has completed the initial Foundation course and as part of our commitment to the holistic development of all individuals our group, others in the management team will be taking advantage of the training shortly. Clair says that by using the training “We can start with a quick check in at training [with our players and coaches] and make it a normal thing.”
Our initiative is fully supported by DoR Adam Balding and we are proud to be associated with this campaign.
Following the fantastic news that he has been re-signed by the club for the 2022 – 2023 season, BMRC Colts are thrilled to announce that Morgan Dawes will join our coaching team, bringing his range of playing experiences and enthusiastic and motivational personality into the group.
We are thrilled that Morgan has chosen the Colts’ group as his first step into senior coaching and sure that his absolute passion for the game, and effervescent character, will bring additional impetus to the group alongside the experienced and committed coaching team that is already in place.
Having represented the club at M&J and Colts’ level and with Moseley Oak, Morgan has an embedded knowledge of our pathway system and is very keen to use his own experiences of our systems to inspire and develop the current crop of young players to achieve their greatest potential as BMRC players.
In accepting the role Morgan said that several the lads he has played with at BMRC, at all levels, have gone on to play elsewhere and that by being involved with the Colts he hopes to “… encourage young players to stay with the club and work their way up to first team level wherever possible …”
Colts’ lead coach Adam Hughes said “… Morgan joining our coaching team is fantastic news! His experience, previous association with the other sections of the club and general presence will be a huge boost to the group. Morgan is someone that our young players can completely relate to having successfully travelled through the Birmingham Moseley pathway himself …”
Morgan will join the coaching team with immediate effect and be in place in time for the start of Colts’ preseason in early July.
Training for the coming season will start on Tuesday 5th July. It will then run every Tuesday and Thursday 1830-2000 with a technical session on Saturdays (time TBC) alongside the Birmingham Moseley first team throughout the summer. This will be a chance to focus on fitness, core skills and game play as we prepare to develop the lads on their rugby journey this coming season. If you are interested in joining this thriving team, want to come down for some summer fitness or simply want more information, please contact us on mailto:email@example.com or using the details at the bottom of this page.

Providing significant investment in the Birmingham Moseley Colts these companies support the club in providing a first class training environment and kit to our team. In doing so we can facilitate players from all backgrounds achieving their full potential and guide them into the senior game as they transition through the colts age group.
The 2021/22 season was a challenging period for the Colts. Returning from Covid lockdowns and the transition of the previous U18 group meant rebuilding from the foundation of an U17s side. Although challenging, playing against strong and very well established local teams, the Colts stood up to a man. The early part of the season meant results often slipped away but this was turned around following the Christmas break. The re-shuffling of the leagues allowed a reset giving an opportunity to build a solid platform. Consequently, wins were earnt and the team reached the semi-finals of the NM Plate competition. Unfortunately, we suffered a loss to a very strong Bournville side made up of almost all U18s which went on to win. In the final game of the season, the Colts won the Sam Yarwood shield, a memorial game played for the first time in some years against local rivals, Camp Hill. A hugely entertaining game which really showed what Colts rugby has to offer. Lastly, the section had 6 players trail for Greater Birmingham, 3 of which represented the city and a 1 going on to the North Mids county team.
Birmingham Moseley Colts are an inclusive team playing as part of the Birmingham Moseley family. Our focus is on player development, team cohesion and an exciting brand of rugby through provision of a quality environment for players aged 16-18 (school years 11 & 12). The core aim is to provide an individualised coaching approach which will aid in the development of both the players and the team as a whole whilst preparing for the transition to adult rugby at the end the Colts program.
We train on Tuesday and Thursday evenings 1830-2000 at our Billesley home. We train alongside the senior first and Moseley Oak teams allowing us to tap into wider club expertise. This enables a broad coaching approach to be taken, continuity in training and play and a strong club identify to be reinforced.
The club has 3 playing pitches (including a flood lit first team pitch), a flood lit 3G training pitch, gym facilities all over looked by a 700 seater modern stand.
The BMR Colts play in the North Mids Colts League with games played on Sunday afternoons against local opposition. Additional games come through cup competitions, friendly games and playing touring sides.
