Birmingham Moseley centre in on the backline

It is often suggested that a good midfield combination in rugby is a playmaker and a hard, direct runner and in Adam Balding’s latest signings that is certainly the case.

Fijian born, but Scottish raised, centre Andy Bulumakau brings with him a wealth of experience with nearly a hundred Championship games for Coventry and Doncaster Knights. Andy came to rugby late while studying in Gloucestershire and progressed through the Gloucester Academy where he helped the club win the JP Morgan Premiership 7s title. Renowned for his pace, which sees him able to operate equally effectively on the wing, Andy will offer a real cutting edge to the midfield.

Ollie Allsopp, who can also play at fly half re-joined the club for the 2020/21 non-season having moved to London Scottish in 2019. In Ollie’s first period at the club he made 40 appearances. A talented player with ball in hand Ollie also offers an extra tactical kicking option outside of fly half.

If it’s powerful, fast running you want then look no further than Mason Tonks. The England 7s International first played for Birmingham Moseley on a dual registration agreement from Worcester Warriors in 2019. Mason then made the step the following season to sign with the club, making nineteen appearances and scoring seven tries. Mason has the ability to operate equally effectively at centre or wing.
