Back Three Back for Birmingham Moseley

First XV // Monday 20th June 2022

Birmingham Moseley are pleased to confirm that Tom Benjamin, Aquile Smith and Tuoyo Egodo will all be pulling on a red and black shirt next season.

Full back Tom joined the club at the start of last season from Nottingham and soon made the full back shirt his own. In his 23 appearances during the season he brought a real threat in the wide channels of the backline through a combination of pace and skill, which saw him the teams third highest try scorer for the season.

Wing Aquile Smith will start his third season with the club in September, following a summer of Sevens rugby. As part of the Jamaican sevens squad he was instrumental in securing a place at both the Commonwealth Games & the Rugby World Cup 7s in South Africa. A player of genuine pace he will be looking to bring the attacking skills developed on the sevens field into the fifteen man game.

Wing Tuoyo Egodo has made a remarkable transfer to Rugby Union since being signed back in January from London Broncos Rugby League team. Making his debut against Cambridge he quickly looked like someone who had played Union all his career, adding additional versatility by being just as adept at playing centre. A strong runner with a solid defence we are sure he will be looking to take full advantage of his first full season in Union.

Adam Balding said: “The retention of three such attacking threat as Tom, Aquile & Tuoyo is a real boost to our intentions to build one of the best backlines in the division. All three offer different challenges to opposition defenses and will be key to our campaign this season”
